Sunrise Ranch Reserve

We were honored to assist a local veterans association in Los Banos with a project unlike any other — a fully off-grid solar + battery + generator system serving a remote property with no access to the utility grid.

The site was established to house and support veterans as they transition back into civilian life, offering both long-term residence and community gatherings. The facility consisted of an office building and roughly seven to nine RV trailers, each with varying power demands based on occupancy and seasonal conditions. This created a unique load-calculation challenge, particularly when accounting for summer air-conditioning use, periodic trailer turnover, and higher-demand events such as association gatherings.

In addition to new PV and battery infrastructure, the site included an existing generator system that needed to be integrated seamlessly. Our design ensured proper load sharing, grounding, and electrical protection, maintaining safety and reliability while balancing the unpredictable nature of an off-grid microcommunity.

Projects like this demonstrate how thoughtful engineering and community-driven design can bring energy independence, resilience, and hope to even the most remote locations.
